Is Byrne's either a Liverpool institution or one of the city’s best-kept secrets?
Now entering their 4th generation of ownership, one family has managed to maintain their high standard of service since 1932! And they even managed to keep it open during the war. It’s amazing to believe it’s lasted this long, that is, until, you’ve tried their chips.
Another fan favourite within the chippy is curry sauce. Byrne's fish and chips have received consistently good reviews across many reviewing websites such as trip advisor and yelp and the fruity curry sauce (plain is also available) regularly appear in many sterling reviews. Byrne's, themselves, say that a person often comes all the way from Runcorn just to get the curry sauce.
Byrne's serve four different kinds of fish; haddock, cod, plaice and hake, but if you'd prefer another then let them know two days in advance and it can be arranged for you. They also have a range of pies, barms, burgers and bottled drinks as well as sausages, chicken nuggets and hot dogs. You'll be spoiled for choice.
They’re within walking distance of both Goodison and Anfield but don't expect them to be open on matchdays. They are not open on weekends due to the manic traffic that occurs in the area. If you're wondering why they aren't open on weekends then you won't be the first, but for Byrne's, their immensely loyal customer base is already enough to satisfy them.
Byrne's do take orders over the phone, so if you don't want to wait it out in a long queue, then give them a call and place your order.
