In case you hadn’t already guessed, Pancake Day 2018 is Tuesday, February 13.

We all love a good pancake – and everyone has their favourite topping. But why do we eat them on this particular day?

Why do we have Pancake Day?

Well Pancake Day, also known as Shrove Tuesday and, in French, Mardi Gras, is traditionally a feasting day as it is the day before Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday when many people choose to give something up for 40 days.

And Liverpool is no exception. All over the city people will be with their family and friends enjoying these savoury treats. Many will be staying in, but if you’re choosing to eat out this year, then we’ve compiled a simple list of the best places to grab a pancake.

Moose Coffee

Moose Coffee is not only serving up some incredibly appetizing pancakes this year, they’re also extending their opening hours to 6 pm – which is just one more reason to love Pancake Day this year.

They have American style pancake served with maple syrup, smoked bacon, ice cream and all the classic ingredients that the American just can’t get enough of.

They have great American style pancakes served up as part of their Brunch and Brekkie menu. You can keep it simple and with strawberries and syrup, or go for something more exotic, the choice is yours.

They will be serving American pancakes and crepes throughout the day with more potential toppings than you could think to imagine. They even have gluten-free options available and work closely with Coeliac UK to expand their product range safely.
